October Wellness Highlights at the Village!
We had a lot to celebrate in October with Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest, and Halloween!
Oktoberfest Celebration
Oktoberfest was a party as we danced the night away with the Transylvania HofBrau Band and even had an unexpected visitor during the dinner hour...Onkel Hans made his rounds for some good photo ops with this official mascot and goodwill ambassador of Oktoberfest since 1974.
Halloween Festivities
Our Halloween festivities included pumpkin carving, a trick-or-treat parade with the KW Moms Club, and our annual Halloween Party, where we wore our best costumes!
Exciting Trips, Activities, and Events
This month’s trips were a lot of fun as we ventured to Martin’s Family Fruit Farm for apples, explored a Barn Quilt tour through our region, admired both historical and contemporary Canadian and Indigenous art including the Group of Seven at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Museum, toured the stunning fall colours and countryside of Hockley Valley and participated in a Monster Walk in Elora. All while enjoying delicious lunches at local restaurants along the way.
We were fortunate to have our own resident, Robert Barnett, share his findings on how museums have obtained their artifacts as part of our Emerging Ideas Presentations.
Author Crystal Quast joined us to reflect on her writing process and share readings from her novels, The Serenity Acres Series.
As part of respiratory month, Joy shared information at a Wellness Presentation on Air Quality and Health Impacts.
Residents on the Memory Care floor visited Benjamin's Tree and Pumpkin farm, Herrle's Market, a country drive and the Clay and Glass Gallery. Some festive activities included pumpkin carving, making Halloween goodies bags and a horticulture workshop with Sue from Ubgreen.
