With lots of activities and special celebrations, the month of September was a busy time for our Residents and staff!

We started September off by infusing joy and laughter into crafts by making paper airplanes and having a flying contest. Residents enjoyed lots of laughter and feelings of joy as they reminisced about their youth.

We honoured and celebrated both Grandparent’s Day and World Alzheimer’s Day.

For Grandparent’s Day we took a moment to enjoy and celebrate the grandparents in our lives by hosting a Tea Party. We invited families to enjoy the celebrations on this National Holiday celebrated annually on the first Sunday after Labour Day. Featured below are Helen and her daughter Sharon. Helen has 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren!

On World Alzheimer’s Day, we provided our residents with education on brain health. One special resident Doug shared an inspiring story about his personal journey living with Alzheimer’s. Our Wellness Coordinator and Registered Nurse, Joy, provided critical information on diseases impacting our brains, and preventative strategies to consider. Thank you to both guest speakers for an uplifting and informative afternoon.

Lastly, we were declared the official Diamond Winner for the 2022 Waterloo Chronicle Readers’ Choice Awards. We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who voted for us!

Our heart is Waterloo, and we are proud to serve this wonderful community. We look forward to sharing more with our residents and staff next month!
